Our mission to help BC children get outdoors to explore, play, learn about and take action for nature got a large boost this week. Thanks to the generous support of the Y. P. Heung Foundation, we are this week extending our reach to BC’s 1,450 elementary schools. All elementary schools will receive a free copy of the summer 2017 edition of NatureWILD Magazine and the accompanying Curriculum Connections guide written by teachers for teachers. Up to 150 schools will be eligible for a complimentary one-year school membership and a number of environmental stewardship grants will be up for grabs too.
NatureKids BC school memberships support teachers’ efforts to incorporate place-based learning in their classroom and use nature as a springboard to address the big ideas and competencies in the new curriculum across subjects. It provides teachers with hands-on activities with a focus on grades 3-6 through resources and support including: NatureWILD Magazine for kids, Curriculum Connections Guide, NatureKids e-newsletters and Environmental stewardship grants.
