Nature Club Co-Leaders: NatureKids BC runs nature clubs for children and their families in many communities around BC. Each club usually has two leaders. As a co-leader of a local nature club, your primary responsibility will be to organize hands-on outdoor field trips called Explorer Days for NatureKids members and their families. All our club leaders are volunteers – if you share our passion for connecting kids with nature, if you enjoy organizing activities and can help plan 10 explorer day events per year this opportunity may be for you. We provide all the training, ongoing support and liability insurance. To learn more about becoming a club leader or co-leader, please contact Christina Chowaniec, Program Coordinator at coordinator@naturekidsbc.ca or apply online. Please note that references are required for this position.
Nature Mentors: As a nature mentor you will share your expertise, skills and knowledge about the natural world with NatureKids BC’s youth and family members in your community on Explorer Day field trips. We are seeking nature mentors to lead 1- 2 outdoor, hands-on field trips per year for young naturalists in towns and cities across BC. You will be able to specify your area of expertise and availability so you can volunteer to lead a program on your topic of choice and when it suits you. Get started with us by registering for the Nature Mentors’ Circle and checking for clubs near you. Learn more or email coordinator@naturekidsbc.ca.
Education Coordinator: Are you passionate about helping kids spend more time outdoors, learning and having fun in nature? We are looking for a volunteer education coordinator who can help us develop our elementary school membership program in British Columbia, expand it, create more engagement with the school system and look for ways we can partner with other organizations. You will help us administer the program, develop promotional materials, communicate with schools through online content and emails, and help us develop curriculum-linked materials. Training will be provided and we prefer if you can make at least a six months commitment. Learn more here.
Outreach Ambassadors: NatureKids brings nature to numerous public events in BC through touch tables with natural objects, nature craft, and various activities. We’re looking for volunteers to help at these events and marketing/communications geniuses to help us freshen our displays and their messaging!
Office Support: We need your help to make welcome packs for new members and leaders, make NatureKids buttons, organize supplies and other tasks that can be lots of fun when tackled together! 3-5 hours a month is all it takes to really make a difference! Work parties take place at the office in North Vancouver.
