NatureKids BC could not exist without its club leaders – they are on the front line creating and delivering our programming. We have 50+ leaders in all corners of the province and together they devote 6,300 hours of their time to local nature leadership. Working alone or with co-leaders our nature club leaders organize and deliver Explorer Days for children and their families across BC and go out of their way to educate and inspire our youth members about nature.
As a club leader, your primary responsibility is to organize outdoor field trips called Explorer Days. If you share our passion for connecting kids with nature, enjoy organizing activities, and can help plan about 10 Explorer Days a year, this is perfect for you! We provide all the training, support and liability insurance you need to be a great leader! You can join a local nature club or start your own!

A connection to the outdoors isn’t just created by stepping outside. Nature Mentorship from experts play an important role in developing this bond! Nature Mentors share expertise, skills and knowledge about the natural world with young families in their community on Explorer Day field trips. Nature Mentors could include naturalists, artists, educators and university students — anyone with an interest in sharing their love of nature with the next generation. We can put you in touch with club leaders in your communities and you can lead a program on the topic of your choice based on your expertise. Get started with us by checking for clubs near you.
Are you passionate about helping kids spend more time outdoors, learning and having fun in nature? We are looking for a education coordinator who can help us develop our elementary school membership program in British Columbia, expand it, create more engagement with the school system and develop partnerships. You will help us administer the program, develop promotional materials, communicate with schools through online content and emails, and help us develop curriculum-linked materials. This is a six month commitment with training provided!
NatureKids brings nature to numerous public events in BC through touch tables with natural objects, nature craft, and various activities. We’re looking for volunteers to help at these events and marketing/communications geniuses to help us freshen our displays and their messaging!
We need your help to make welcome packs for new members and leaders, make NatureKids buttons, organize supplies and other tasks that can be lots of fun when tackled together! 3-5 hours a month is all it takes to really make a difference! Work parties take place at the office in North Vancouver.
