SOUTH OKANAGAN

February 29, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm PST

Exploring the winter night sky, snowshoe, and campfire wiener roast

I’ve checked the night stars and it looks like a spectacular evening with Venus, a crescent moon, the constellations of Orion, Casseopeia, and the little dipper, and a confirmation that it takes 365.25 days for our earth to travel around the sun. We’ll also get a lesson for the kids in how to start a fire safely. Join us for a Leap Year Adventure!
Location:  Garnet Fire Lookout (Up Carmi in Penticton).
Dress with snow pants, snow jacket, toques, gloves, snowboots or/and snowshoes.
Bring headlamps or flashlights.
Bring a lawn chair, weiner sticks, plates, cups, napkins.
Bring your own warm drinks in thermos.
I will bring wood, fire starting materials, marshmallows, hot dogs and condiments.
Feel free to bring:
* any other campfire food you’d like to share.
* If you want veggie dogs please bring some.

Explorer Day Etiquette:

  • Be prepared to HAVE FUN!
  • Pre-registration with your Club Leader is required for most Explorer Days (Friends are welcome if space permits).
  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the scheduled start time to ensure enough time for passport stamping and organization. Starting times are firm, and Leaders cannot wait for late-comers!
  • Please stay with the Leader and let them know if you are leaving early.
  • Children must always be accompanied by an adult guardian, who is responsible for their behaviour. Children consistently disrupting the experience of others may be asked to leave.
  • Bring appropriate weather gear, sunscreen, snacks, water, and other useful tools like binoculars, sketch books, cameras, and magnifying glasses.
