Salmon Journey (Virtual Explorer Day)

December 12, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm PST

Join us and our friends at Take a Stand: Youth for Conservation to explore the pristine forests, oceans and coastline of the Great Bear Rainforest and Sea of British Columbia, and learn about our vital Foundation species – wild salmon. Come full circle to our city to explore wild salmon right in our backyards! Enter our art contest to earn prizes and to help out our salmon and the many wildlife species that depend upon it. Our Nature Mentors will be Norm Hann, Fernando Lessa and Allison Kermode.
Take a Stand programming was developed to share and treasure the natural beauty of British Columbia with our youth, including our urban-nature areas, and our unique coastal wilderness, home to rich First Nations cultures, diverse and productive oceans, and an expansive intact temperate rainforest. Explorer Day Etiquette:

  • Be prepared to HAVE FUN!
  • Pre-registration with your Club Leader is required for most Explorer Days (Friends are welcome if space permits).
  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the scheduled start time to ensure enough time for passport stamping and organization. Starting times are firm, and Leaders cannot wait for late-comers!
  • Please stay with the Leader and let them know if you are leaving early.
  • Children must always be accompanied by an adult guardian, who is responsible for their behaviour. Children consistently disrupting the experience of others may be asked to leave.
  • Bring appropriate weather gear, sunscreen, snacks, water, and other useful tools like binoculars, sketch books, cameras, and magnifying glasses.
