Pond Dipping
Join leaders Jennifer Pollard & Sarah Brookes to explore pond life. After mustering in the Elgin School parking lot we will walk across the street to the Ramsel property (14391 Crescent Road) to explore an old salmon rearing pond. Dip your net into the pond to discover who lives beneath the surface! Nets and buckets provided, but feel free to bring your own. Gumboots recommended.
A videographer from the City of Surrey will be joining us for this event; the City is collecting stories about how people interact with the Nicomekl River, including the ponds where we will be pond dipping! If you do not wish for your family to be filmed please let us know when you register.
Meeting location: Parking lot of Elgin School, 3530 144 Street, Surrey

Explorer Day Etiquette:

  • Be prepared to HAVE FUN!
  • Pre-registration with your Club Leader is required for most Explorer Days (Friends are welcome if space permits).
  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the scheduled start time to ensure enough time for passport stamping and organization. Starting times are firm, and Leaders cannot wait for late-comers!
  • Please stay with the Leader and let them know if you are leaving early.
  • Children must always be accompanied by an adult guardian, who is responsible for their behaviour. Children consistently disrupting the experience of others may be asked to leave.
  • Bring appropriate weather gear, sunscreen, snacks, water, and other useful tools like binoculars, sketch books, cameras, and magnifying glasses.
