Snowshoe Hike
Sunday, February 25, 9:00am
Location: Mt Seymour
Get up into the mountains and take a snowshoe hike on Dog Mountain Trail. Look for winter wildlife and check out the alpine ecosystem. Pack a snack & water.
*Stamina and good attitude required to keep up with our group. No younger siblings on foot please. 
Please bring your own snow shoes. MEC provides daily snow shoe rentals (adults $15, children $10; which can be picked up from 3pm the day before the rental, please call ahead to reserve.
Meet at the BC parks kiosk, at farthest end of the uppermost parking lot, just left (west) of the mystery chairlift loading area.  If you are driving to the top, winter tires or carrying chains is required. Please arrive by 8:30am to find parking, as the snowshoe parking lot is approximately a 15 minute walk from our meeting location and parking will be very busy around 9am when the mountain opens. There is a shuttle bus if you prefer not to drive up the mountain – see for more details. The shuttle takes approximately 20 minutes from the Parkgate parking lot to the top of the mountain.

Explorer Day Etiquette:

  • Be prepared to HAVE FUN!
  • Pre-registration with your Club Leader is required for most Explorer Days (Friends are welcome if space permits).
  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the scheduled start time to ensure enough time for passport stamping and organization. Starting times are firm, and Leaders cannot wait for late-comers!
  • Please stay with the Leader and let them know if you are leaving early.
  • Children must always be accompanied by an adult guardian, who is responsible for their behaviour. Children consistently disrupting the experience of others may be asked to leave.
  • Bring appropriate weather gear, sunscreen, snacks, water, and other useful tools like binoculars, sketch books, cameras, and magnifying glasses.
