NatureKids BC is a nature discovery and environmental action organization that helps children get outdoors to explore, play, learn about and take action for nature. Through a unique program of volunteer-led nature clubs from Fort St. John in northeast BC to the coastal city of Victoria, we encourage children and youth ages 5-12 to:
- Discover nature on outdoor Explorer Day adventures with local experts
- Learn about native wildlife and plants in NatureWILD magazine, which members receive four times a year
- Step up for nature with stewardship projects, citizen science activities and the Action Awards Quest
Founded in 2000, NatureKids BC is a registered charity (CRA 84961 1926 RR0001), powered by passionate volunteers, members and donors. From all corners of the province, our network of family clubs and school members engage youth in exploring and learning about the wonderfully diverse ecosystems of British Columbia.
Our mission is to help BC children get outdoors to explore, play, learn about and take action for nature. Our vision is that through their participation in NatureKids BC, children develop a love of nature, a lifelong connection to the natural world, and have the environmental literacy and skills to take action for nature.
Nature Kids BC collaborates with approximately 60 volunteer nature club leaders every year – together they devote 6,300 hours of their time to local nature leadership. Our nature club leaders organize and deliver Explorer Days and they go out of their way to educate and inspire our youth members about nature.
